More than 3,000 visitors were attracted by the unique festivities to the village which had 544 residents at the last census

Bačvatlon race, meaning the barrel marathon, was the biggest attraction of the Zmajevac Vinathlon. It took a lot of speed, strength and will to push wine barrels uphill with the Zmajevac surduk. The competition had a men's and women's league and the original vinathlon content combined wine, humor, competitive spirit and Baranja's immediacy.

A prize for every competitor

We came to have fun and had a better time than we expected. The barrel race is just as strenuous as it needs to be, but the atmosphere, the cheering and the team around the course turned everything into pure fun. It's also great that there's no pressure to win: the organizers made sure to reward all competitors, said the barrel racers who arrived in Zmajevac from Zagreb. Bottles of wine, of course, were delivered to everyone.

More than 3,000 visitors came to the finale of this festival of wine, good energy and Baranja hospitality. The program began with a morning Fišijada, followed by wine stories, tastings of Merlot and late harvests, and visitors had the opportunity to meet winemakers and experience Baranja through a combination of tradition, taste and modern tourist content.

People know why they come back

Zmajevac and its guests once again showed why we do Vinatlon. Wine, people, atmosphere, local products, workshops, Bačvatlon and music came together in a great Baranja experience. The reactions of visitors, but also winemakers and exhibitors, are pleasing. It is clear that Vinatlon is no longer just a show, but an event that creates emotions and makes people return to Baranja, said Gabriela Gerštmajer from the Winegrowers' Association. Here are more photos that say more about Vinatlon than words...
