Dad is away, but you are welcome to visit me too, said Filip Bibić regarding visits to the winery in the spring of 2025, as he beautifully presented both the older vintages, which had not yet truly aged, and the new wines from the Bibich winery in Plastovo, near Skradin. It was as if his father were there, too. I had been with Alen in Rovinj the previous February; I praised his son to him, and he smiled proudly. If he had produced nothing but Debit, a monument should have been erected in his honor: he took wines made from a grape variety everyone else had shunned and elevated them to the very pinnacle of the Croatian wine scene. He passed away on March 25, 2026, and let this story serve as a reminder of at least a part of the legacy he left behind.
