Da mi daju cure izabrati

Ja bi znao koju bi izabrao

Samoborku ne bi ni jednu

Samoborci piju vino z lonci

Samoborke piju z demižonke

Kaj imaju sve za vino daju

Drinking from pot, or from a demijohn

If they let me me choose the girl

I would know which one to choose

Not the one from Samobor

In Samobor men drink wine from pots

Women drink from a demijohn

Whatever they have, they trace for wine

This is a loose translation of the lyrics from Samobor's most famous wine song called In Samobor men drink wine from pots, but not the only one. City chronicler Ivica Sudnik also recorded this one:

 Dear wine, come in me

(first in Croatian language, then translated):

Dobro vince hodi vu me,

Dojde vreme, ne bu me.

V črnoj zemli budem gnil,

Tebe, vince, ne bum pil!

Doklam sem ja pil tebe,

Služilo mi je zdravje;

Otkad tebe pit ne smem,

Dušum, telom bolujem.

Dok sem uz devojku stal,

Ništ za tugu nisem znal;

Otkad sem se oženil,

Ništ se dobra nisam vžil.

Ostavil bum ja ženu,

Zel si budem čutoru,

Pak bum išel v goricu

Z mojum dragum kumicum.

English version:

Dear wine come in me

The time will come when I’ll be gone

I will rot in the black soil

I won't be drinking you anymore

While I drank you

My health was good

Since I stopped

I suffer in body and soul

While she was my sweetheart

There was no sorrow

Since the day I married

The happyness has gone

I’ll leave my wife

I’ll grab my flask

And head to the vineyard

With my dear best man
